Child-Led Learning: Fostering Curiosity and Motivation

July 28 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$15.00 – $30.00

Nyetta Abernathy, Jennifer Childs

Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand the principles and benefits of child-led learning, recognizing that children’s natural curiosity and motivation can drive meaningful and engaged learning experiences. Explore research and theories that support child-led learning, such as constructivism and the Montessori method, to gain a deeper understanding of its foundations.

2. Develop strategies and practices to create an environment that fosters curiosity and motivation in children. This may involve providing ample opportunities for exploration, play, and discovery, tailoring activities and learning experiences to the child’s interests and strengths, and encouraging open-ended questioning and inquiry-based learning approaches. Additionally, it includes creating a safe and supportive space where children feel empowered to take ownership of their learning.

3. Enhance observation and assessment skills to effectively recognize and respond to children’s interests, strengths, and developmental needs within a child-led learning context. Learn how to observe and document children’s learning processes and achievements, and use this information to guide and scaffold their learning experiences.
